Human-Centered Design
The tremendous growth of the Internet and proliferation of personal computers and other information and communications devices have created an environment of unparalleled access and opportunity. At Fujitsu, along with an emphasis on quality, performance and reliability, we’ve developed a “human-centered” design approach to ensure that anyone can utilize our products and services to take advantage of this environment. Based on the principles of universal design, we promote accessibility by:
- Providing a wide variety of interaction options to ensure that differences in physical abilities, such as visual and auditory deficits, do not limit usability of our products and services.
- Creating dimensions, layout, and controls that minimize physical stress and fatigue and flexibly accommodate the physical attributes and capabilities of various users.
- Presenting easy-to-understand, user-friendly information that takes into consideration users with different backgrounds, experiences, cultures, and languages.
- Designing interfaces with outstanding usability, helping to enhance safety, effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction.
At the same time, as part of our core value of considering environmental impact in all that we do, we incorporate environmental considerations throughout the design process.
Based on the principles above, and incorporating methods from a variety of design disciplines, we’re endeavoring to create environmentally friendly products and services that will promote unfettered opportunity in the ubiquitous networking world.
Fujitsu Web Accessibility Guidelines
Along with promoting accessibility in our products and services, we’ve created and applied "Fujitsu Web Accessibility Guidelines" to optimize the usability and user-friendliness of our website. The guidelines, which were developed in conformance with existing standards and guidelines such as WAI's (Web Accessibility Initiative) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, the United States' Rehabilitation Act, Section 508 and the Japanese Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts & Telecommunications’ Web Helper, are published on this site for use by interested parties. The Fujitsu website has won recognition from various industry and media groups for its excellent design and usability, including first place in Nikkei Personal Computing's annual rankings of corporate website usability in 2004 and 2005.
